Itinerary

DAY 1 : ARRIVE DELHI

Upon your arrival in the Indian capital city of New Delhi, you will be greeted by our representative at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. After a warm welcome, you will be escorted to your hotel for night stay. Overnight at Hotel in Delhi.

DAY 2: DISCOVER DELHI ; DRIVE DELHI - JAIPUR (260 KMS – 6 HRS)

09:00am: Hotel pick up for Delhi City Tour Today discover the vibrant city of Old and New Delhi. In Old Delhi, enjoy a morning tour of Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India and an architectural masterpiece of Muslim faith. Then drive past Red Fort, a splendid fort made of red sandstone which was once the residence of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan.   Continue with the sightseeing tour of New Delhi, driving past India’s seat of power, the President House and Parliament House. Take a short photo stop at India Gate, the famous war memorial arch of India. Then visit the gold tombed Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a live Sikh temple still in active worship. This sacred temple is highly spiritual and the holy water here is believed to have cured many followers of their illness. Then visit Laxmi Narayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Narayan), the preserver and his consort Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. The temple spreads over 7.5 acres, was built in the 1930s and inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. Later visit Qutab Minar, a fine example of early Muslim and Afghani architecture in India. Later this afternoon, embark on your drive to Jaipur – the pink hued capital city of Rajasthan. This city of erstwhile Rajput Maharajas, is built in 9 rectangular sectors symbolizing 9 divisions of the universe, as per Indian cosmology Upon arrival check in at your hotel overnight stay.

DAY 3: DISCOVER JAIPUR

07:30am: Hotel pick up for Jaipur City Tour This morning, visit the magnificent Amber Fort, which was built in the 16th century. A decorated elephant ride will help you ascend to this hilltop fort (elephants are subject to availability). Alternatively, you could choose to walk or drive up to the fort. This afternoon, visit Jaipur’s City Palace complex with its various museums and the fascinating Jantar Mantar, the ancient astronomical observatory built by the Maharaja of Jaipur. Also see Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), built in the 18th century. This palace with its innumerable windows and screened balconies was especially built for the royal women to view the city and processions from behind their purdahs. Later explore the many facets of Jaipuri crafts such as semi precious jewels, colourful fabrics, woven carpets etc – watch artisans at work and enjoy souvenir shopping in this colourful city of Jaipur. This evening experience the spiritualism of Jaipur with a visit to Birla Mandir, the fascinating white marble temple of Jaipur that is brightly lit up in the evenings, when priests perform the holy ‘aarti’ ceremony at the temple. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Narayan), the preserver and his consort Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. Due to this reason, Birla Mandir is also known as Laxmi Narayan Temple. Overnight stay at hotel in Jaipur.

DAY 4 : DRIVE  JAIPUR - FATEHPUR SIKRI – AGRA (240 KMS / 05 HRS)

10:00am: Hotel pick up for drive to Agra (via Fatehpur Sikri) After breakfast, embark on your drive to Agra en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri, a beautiful blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture and the capital city of Mughal Empire in 16th century. This place was built by Emperor Akbar in gratitude of Saint Sheikh Salim Chishti, who foretold the birth of Emperor Akbar’s sons. Ever since then followers have been visiting Fatehpur Sikri to make a wish and tie a thread on the ‘Wish Pillar’, with the hope that their wishes will be fulfilled. Continue drive to Agra – home to the Taj Mahal. This evening you visit marble inlay workshops and indulge in exquisite souvenir shopping in the culture and tradition filled city of Agra. Apart from beautiful marble artifacts, Agra is also famous for its exquisite leather work, embroidered fabrics and traditional embroidered ‘jutti’ i.e. flat shoes. Overnight stay at hotel in Agra.

DAY 5: DISCOVER AGRA

05:30am: Hotel pick up Taj Mahal sunrise visit (exact sunrise time will be advised closer to travel date) This morning witness the surreal views of the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Step inside this eternal symbol of love and appreciate the intricate designs and symmetries that rhyme as a poem written in marble. Taj Mahal is an extravagant display of love, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Return to hotel for breakfast. Later visit the splendid Agra fort, built in red sandstone, encapsulating magnificent palaces, halls of public and private audience and beautiful gardens. Also visit the tomb of Itmad-ud-daullah, which was built by Empress Noor Jahan, the wife of Shahjahan in memory of her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg during 17th century. It is a small tomb but made of splendid marble construction that is considered to be the forerunner of Taj Mahal. It was at this tomb that 'pietra dura' the marble inlay work which is very characteristic of the Taj Mahal, was first used. Overnight stay at hotel in Agra

DAY 6 : DRIVE  AGRA – DELHI  (205 KMS – 4 HRS)

After breakfast, check out from hotel. 08:00 Hrs: Embark on your return drive to Delhi. 12:00 Hrs: Upon arrival in Delhi, transfer to International airport OR Domestic airport OR your Delhi hotel.
